Join choirs Hengequeens and She Shants to be patriarchally deprogrammed and sent out to sea, as feminist pop and subversive songs of the ocean collide in a very merry but not particularly festive offering.
The show will close with a nod to the season, so bring your bellows to sing along to some of the worst of Christmas pop, with help from surf rock friends The Piranhanahs. Follow @hengequeens socials to find out about other nonsense happening on the night and how you can get involved.
All funds raised will be donated to Worthy Australia, supporting Perth women to escape domestic violence and homelessness.
She Shants are a 9-strong group of women flying the flag for a feminine perspective upon the vast seas of male shanty singing. They draw repertoire from traditional and original songs of waiting, loss, adventure and a fascination of sea creatures.
Hengequeens is a feminist pop choir for people marginalised by the patriarchy. They sing songs by, for and about women and non-binary people, in bespoke 3-6 part arrangements. A pox on setlists full of white dudes!
